Today I launched NEOSKILLER. A tool to test your runner setups.

Unable to log in website (Expried account)

When logging in from the game it says expired, go to log in website and get the below message no matter what I do?

I got my cousin to do the same with his account which is also expired and the same is happening to him

I have a ticket number of Ticket#2020050310000027 someone came back to me on Sunday and advised to delete the browser and cache but this didn't work and I have had no reply since

Daily Missions

Hi all,

Initial feedback after trying the daily missions:

Tradeskill:
Research:
I used my researcher and found the mission to be easily doable and nice rewards with the additional lube and token.

Recycle:
I feel this was quite expensive to complete. I had to buy x2 eyes which cost about 75k in total for a return of 8k, lube and a token.

Construction:
I used my constructer and he would only give me the recycle mission to start. Haven't completed it on this character to see what comes after.

Combat:
Marsh Hippos:
A fine mission but takes alot longer to complete then the tradeskill I had completed for the similar rewards. Perhaps combat should offer more as it takes longer to complete?

Reset:
Day 1 I completed x2 research missions and was then offered a recycle mission which I didn't do due to the cost.

Day 2 I returned after the 'new mission allocation' message to find he still wanted to give me the recycle mission. I then completed it and was then given research missions again.

Do you have to complete all missions from an npc before the cycle restarts and research / construct could be done again?


Will add more feedback when I complete more of the missions.

Neolog apartment access

I couldn't find any information on the forum and the ingame consensus seems to be that it just doesn't work and hasn't for a while. Will apartment access ever come back? It's a pretty big deal, especially later in the game, to have to mule all your items through other characters first. So I'd like to see that feature come back. Is the Neolog being worked on/looked at or is it just dead?

Now I'd like to clarify that I'm not demanding anything here, just asking for information. Keep up the great work!

PvE: CityCom missions scaling

Hello everyone!


CityCom Missions in Neocron

Following a discussion on discord - I'm here to discuss citycom missions and their scaling. Although the title of thread states "PvE", this also concerns PvP players. The idea to properly scale missions (and possibly rework XP values) comes after I found out about the one we all love for her nice reward and incredibly sexy baldness:





There is also Morty, but hey guess what Morty: WE CAN NEVER FIND YOUR GODDAMN MUTANT SOLDIERS!! Our little friends Sam and MoMo' here are naughty, they offer you XP rewards that far surpass Citycom missions rewards.

  • Samantha: 2300 xp
  • Morty: 6000 xp


To compare values here, Samantha gives 2300 xp whilst Very easy missions will reward you around 200 (both offering 'kill 5 sewer rats' missions). Samantha and Morty are great band-aids, however I was thinking Citycom could get a rework through values tweaking and to be on par with the thought behind those two NPCs.



This is really a rough figure of how the scaling would work - there are a lot of variable here (not all missions reward the same thing on an identical difficulty setting). This would be a first proposition for "Kill xx" missions only.

Level requirements would be implemented to prevent abuse of very hard mission (i.e tagging a mob with low level characters to finish them with capped characters). The scaling I've applied was to reward doing a higher level mission instead of x2 times the current level.

I've always felt missions were giving too little XP since NC1. Taking consideration of this, we could also imagine higher values but with more monsters to kill at higher level missions. The flaw I can see with this system is being able to cap low skills (DEX for monks or PSI for Spies/PE) really really quickly as all skill categories do not have the same scaling until capped.

Launcher GPU Usage

Launcher GPU usage is pretty normal for a lot of games these days but many of them have a feature to disable GPU acceleration. I've got a GTX 1080 in my system and the launcher occupies gpu in all states:

Focused screen - 24-27% gpu
Non-Focused screen - 20-21% gpu
Minimized screen - 6-10% gpu


Can we have the option to disable GPU accel on the launcher?

Neocron Client performance

It would be really nice to see performance-focused update that would resolve some of the confusing performance characteristics of the Neocron client.

FPS in the client is limited to 90 regardless of maxfps setting meanwhile my CPU and GPU have so much more to give. 144hz (or greater) really does provide a significantly smoother experience.

FPS appears to suffer at times while there is no significant increase in GPU or CPU demand. The fluctuations are not limited by my hardware. The Neocron client demands CPU normally between 5-8% and GPU normally between 6-13%.

There is so much headroom here it's not even a question. There are throttles in the client which are limiting performance.



Aside from framerates there are the instances of frame dropping which can and do occur at the worst times causing you to glide off a cliff, falling to your death or straight into that mob you were hoping to avoid. These tend to occur when new actors or objects are coming on screen - players certainly and I believe also mobs.

I've loaded Neocron into a RAMdisk and run the game from there. I had previously assumed these frame drops had something to do with disk (texture/asset) access but taking that completely out of the picture did nothing to improve frame skipping.



It would be really nice to see both of these issues improved. I know Genesis/Tekktonic is a beast so best wishes to the lucky individual looking these over.

Current Bugs

I've compiled a list of the some bugs which come to mind when we have been discussing bugs. I encourage players to add any information they have regarding any of these or other bugs to help identify replication scenerios.

  • Crash at sync
  • Crash at in game midnight
  • Sound bug where certain sound effects become incredibly loud
  • Being stuck in the "wavy hands" animation when casting a spell too quickly after switching
  • GR bug where we are charged twice and given double SI
  • "Ghosts" of players being left behind in zones

PvE: AoE vs. Single target leveling

Hello everyone!

This will be a rather quick thread to discuss the levelling meta and more specifically Area of Effect (AoE) and Single target levelling methods in the game and why I think it's important to take another direction when it comes to the levelling experience in Neocron, especially for new comers. A few of the things I'll talk about, I'm not even sure how it truly works, feel free to correct me!

Here is a simple table of how it's done for now if you want to be effective:

PE AoE Drones
Spy AoE Drones
GenTank AoE Heavy
Monk AoE APU

Not fully aware of how the rare mini rocket pistol performs for levelling



The way I understand it is that XP gain is streamlined across the game. And my guess is that it has to do with

  1. Tech level (TL) of your weapon
  2. Mob level
  3. Damage/sec or amount of mobs damaged


I don't know if this would even be technically possible in the game but I thought single target damage would be about 80 to 85% as effective as AoE for levelling stats (AoE needs to remain #1 in XP speed - a painful but faster way to max out your character). I do realise a lot of issues are centered around game performance or PvP, but one of Neocron's great strength is its replayability and class/profession choices, thus I feel it is important that a) New comers don't feel like their choice are just plain wrong in view of capping a character and b) Veterans get a new fun way to level up a character.

PPU XP could also be tuned to be better - Perhaps give more XP for amount of HP healed (I think this system is in the game right now but really low).

This would push not only weapon variety in PvE but also exploring around in various zones instead of the "hey, if you ain't doing AoE on 10+ mobs in Regant or Ceres labs, then you are doing it wrong".

Spider Cave update makes droning non viable

The backspawn with absolutely no safe spaces does not allow droners to run this cave even in a completely full group.

Droners have to reposition constantly (every 2-3 minutes) because of the frequency and proximity of the red spider respawns.

Red spiders do not target your drone - they hunt down your body, even in a group. You can not save yourself from getting targetted.



I get that the cave is intended to be difficult. But there needs to be somewhere for a droner to be safe - even if it has to be cleared first.

PvP: WOC 2 - Suit/Underwear

Hello everyone!

Wisdom of Ceres - Level 2

Pretty quick and simple idea I would like to throw out there. Currently Woc 1/3 Power Armors offer so great bonuses that people don't really run non-PA Underwear/suit anymore. I was thinking that to help fight the abundance of Power armor users running around we could introduce a Level WOC 2 Underwear/suit that would give similar stats as the PA (perhaps different resistances) to help match the PA counterpart.

This is really an attempt to get back the little character customisation that we have in-game and get out of this "Ceres clone wars" we have got going on. The downside to this solution is that people would have to level-up to WOC 2 to have a PvP ready character without a Power Armor.
