Update R#41 - T#305 - Current Status

You may wonder about the latest PTS Updates, here some Info: ;)

General

We're currently testing a lot of stuff with PTS - what's possible and what is not, that's why you see so many Updates for PTS on Twitter for example.
We're not lazy! We're doing great stuff for you guys :)

This includes: Event stuff (Easter for instance), AI Updates for several mobs/bosses, some fixes related to Gameworld Designs and other great stuff! :)

It may includes a surprise for the next Titan Update - who knows... ;)


Technical & Client Updates

We did major code changes to the AI script section, so we can implement new boss mechanics and NPC behaviour.
You will see some on Titan soon ;)


Gameworld & Content

We have fixed a bunch of typos in several scripts, descriptions etc., we also added a bunch of new "Hints of the Day". :)

Gameworld & Content



  • Fixed a typo in the "NCPD Manhunt" script;
  • Storage Cell Apartment (DRE Epic Reward)
    • Fixed wrong spawn point - You're now spawning in front of the apartment when you login;
    • Added GR;
    • Grounded floating actors;
    • Clipping decal fixed;

  • Fixed a typo in a dummy script (it's now business, instead of busines);
  • Fixed a typo in the item description of Duranium Armour (it's now standard, instead of standar);
  • Fixed wrong F8 Text for the WoC Mission "Warbots Bane" - It's now showing the correct amount of targets to kill;
  • Fixed a typo in the "Warbots Bane" script;
  • Fixed wording for "Hint of the Day" ("De-implanting");
  • Optimized Attachposition of Freezer weapons;
  • Added 21 new Hint's of the Day (Login Screen);
  • All Faction Supply and Resource Supply managers have taken a re-training course in runner faction relations awareness.



Balancing



  • Heavy Armorsuit Tangent V M-13A : STR modifier is now, as intented, 2, not 22



Graphics



  • Added new a new decoration item for the Gameworld Editor (dead Camo Tank);
  • Added new icon for RG Drones;
  • Added new icon for SFA, FA, SFC and MR Drones;



Technical & Client Updates



  • AI Scripting improved;
  • Added new Bossmechanics;
  • Added new AI Scripts;
  • Fixed an issue with vanishing NPCs;

There seem to be no NPC's in the Storage and Sewer Systems, Side Street and Water Treatment seem fine.

Except there is a second level i don't know about

neocroncline.exe - No Disk

So I decided to come back and play after a couple of months, and noticed new client. Downloaded, created new directory etc etc.
Now, when Neocron launches, I get about a Dozen "No Disk" errors, it asks me to put a disk in Drive "F:". I just keep clicking Continue enough times it finally does launch.
No idea what is about.

Balancing Event Ideas

Hi runners,

So far communication has been great to help with my tasks, but I want MORE!

I'd like to arrange some sort of event(s) to get as many people on as possible and test in more game like scenarios (e.g. duels & OP fights).

I've seen many "pvp" events be suggested to various degrees of success, so... what would you guys like to see?

P.S. There will be shiny event tokens to all who attend any events which will be given out on Titan

Hallo zusammen,

ich schaue hier ab und zu rein, um mitzubekommen, wie sich das Projekt denn entwickelt, hängt doch eigentlich mein Herzblut dran, wie sicher bei vielen hier.

In letzter Zeit bin ich immer wieder beeindruckt, wie kontinuierlich das Devteams daran arbeitet das Spiel zu verbessern und den "Saustall" aufzuräumen, der sich über viele Evos- und Flicken-Patches angesammelt hat.

Ich glaube die Gamewelt war nicht mehr in so einem guten Zustand seit der NC1-Ära.

Gerne würde ich zurückkommen und wieder aktiver spielen, aber leider hat sich das Spiel scheinbar nicht in allen Bereichen gleich gut entwickelt. Das Spiel hält für mich heftige Lagspikes bereit, wie man das früher nicht kannte: Immer wenn ich eine Map betrete, dann ruckelt es beim Laden der Map-Objekte heftig. Auch wenn ich das Inventar oder den GOGU öffne genehmigt sich das Spiel gerne lästige Denkpausen. Für PVP ist das Gift.

Daher habe ich interessehalber mal einen Char auf Neocron-Classic-Beta hochgezogen und muss zugeben: Das Spiel ist unfertig und es gibt noch weniger Spieler, aber technisch hat es mich beeindruckt. Das Spiel rennt hier erheblich flüssiger. Darüber hinaus ist das PVE-Balancing viel gelungener. Ich bin massig oft gestorben, sowohl im Sewer Level 1 als auch in der Outzone. Investiert man in Ausrüstung, dann merkt man das auch sofort. Die Stadt hat dort auch wieder viele gefähliche Ecken, was sehr zum Flair beiträgt.

Daher meine Frage, da ich lieber auf diesem Server zocken würde: Hat das Dev-Team denn vor, Verbesserungen auf der technischen Seite vorzunehmen (Grafik, Datenbank, ...) und was können wir erwarten?

Login doesn't work anymore

I can't login into the game. Screen after entering username & pw:

No progress. I can cancel the login with ESC. Thats all. Started the NC Launcher as admin.

Any ideas?

Advice on Events

We've been having a lot of events lately. I'm enjoying them, in the old days I rarely attended. I'm not big on the Madness ones because... AoE is kinda broken (especially if you have no LE), but I still go and do what I can. But I have noticed a couple things. One big one occurred to me today.

When we're teleporting to an Event Zone, there should be a way to get back on your own. Sometimes these events take a long time, and a player may have to leave. There should be an easier way than /set kill_self 1 (shooting yourself in the head and dropping items into an otherwise inaccessible zone), or asking a GM for a ride back, as I had to do today (thanks for the lift guys, sorry I had to keep harassing you about it on the Help channel). Add a Genrep to that area, or even just a hatch (like you use at the end) that brings you back to Plaza.

This is not just important for people who need to log off and don't want to do it in the event zone, but its important because you don't really know what the event is going to shape up to be, and you should be able to go back to your apartment, swap equipment, and come back. I remember one guy at the Easter Event didn't get the message about no AoE, but had only brought an AoE weapon, and had a lot of trouble figuring out what to do from there. Even beyond that... different situations require different equipment, you want to be able to swap armors or sometimes even implants in a PvE fight (rather than fighting with your PvP build in a non PvP fight). Anyway, just a thought.

While I'm here, I want to say I really appreciate the events. It's a good community builder, for one thing, but ... it really does... tie the room together, as I guess The Dude would say. Thanks a bunch. :)

Rule Changes and questions

So I've got back in game after a couple of years or so (though I have been occasionally lurking on the forums) and from what I remember, RL Religion and Politics was a big no no. I noticed a politically named clan in game though and can only assume the restrictions have been lifted or relaxed? I'd just like some clarification before I say/name something inappropriate in-game or on the forums.

I made use of the character transfer system and I have 3 Epics already completed on the character (NEXT, DRE and BioTech) but no rewards transferred over with me as they weren't in any of the slots. Is there any way I can have the items spawned for me or at least have the Epics reset?

Lastly, I remember Nidhogg created an app to be used alongside NC (The Cronalyser I think?), is it still around and is it still compatible?

P2 Aggressor Cellar

Some of us were kicking ideas around in-game yesterday and were talking about the Aggressor Cellar in Plaza 2. I like the change back to the original cellar map from countless years ago, but it does seem a little light on the spawns (I was not alone in this sentiment). Would it be possible to add a few more mutant spawns?
